Today in the Life of Hailey

Well, Dahmahnic left Tuesday. He was supposed to get time off that morning, but the jerks who were relieving him decided to make him wait an additional two hours off the top of his shift, so instead of having two or so hours with me, we only had time to go to the uniform shop for something and to go home for me to change out of my PJ's. So that made me really mad. They had a bbq on the pier for all the families and some veterans cooked and served us all. It was really touching, but they all skedaddled before I could go thank them. I don't know why I didn't think, but for some reason I didn't think that I would need SUNSCREEN for the few hours that I spent on the pier with Sam waiting for the boat to cast off. YOUCH. I was wearing a v-neck t-shirt, so I have a V of pain around my neck. My arms didn't do much better, but they were a little tanner so they didn't get burned as bad. I was glad at the end of the day that I decided to wear PANTS, which were hot at the time, because I think they saved me from a mega burn. Dahm had to go on the boat pretty soon after we ate, but since he was standing electrical operator, I got to see him on top of the submarine as they disconnected shore power. I think he was surprised to see me there still, most of the other wives left after the guys got on the boat. It was nice though.
So I went to Ala Moana yesterday with Sam so we could go to Lush. I covered up pretty well so my burns wouldn't get more irritated, even though that meant I had to wear a scarf in 85 degree weather XD. We had a pretty good day, I think it was good for both of us to get out of the house for awhile, and I probably won't see her soon because her parents came to stay with her for a month.
Here are some pictures of Dahm's sub. Love you all

Lots of junk :)

So we've been up to a couple things lately!
As you know, Dahm bought a computer to take on deployment, but what you DON'T know is that when we were at Best Buy, we met a guy who reminded the both of us of Dad!
He was around Dad's age, liked computers, got excited telling us about cool stuff, has a DAUGHTER who is 22 and her husband is in the navy, and he had a pretty cool mustache. He was really nice to us, and was pretty cool, but obviously not as cool as the original. Dahm thought that being a computer dude would be a job Dad could do with one hand behind his back.. err... one hand in a cast :) I left him really good reviews when they emailed me and asked me to review my last visit haha.
We also went to the Dole Plantation for lunch and funsies last weekend - I'd never been there, but I really wanted to go and check it out because I heard it was cool. We ate lunch there, which was pretty cool, took a train tour of part of the plantation, and we went into the World's Largest Maze and that was a lot of fun! After we had done all that, we got a dole whip sundae, WAY TOO MUCH for just two people LOL... It was really yummy though. The only other place you can get a Dole whip anything is at Disney as far as I know... They also offer to ship pineapple for a flat rate to anywhere in the world, so that's cool too. There definitely were a lot of pineapple souvenirs, but we didn't buy any. I like stuff, but Dahm likes not buying stuff SO we didn't get anything.
Also I made my yummy vegetable soup for Dahm when his belly wasn't feeling good. He asked me to make him RAMEN and I said, PSH sorry I'm making something good. He was happily surprised with how yummy it was :) so that made me happy too.
We have also made plans to go FlYbOaRdInG on Saturday. THAT hopefully, will be super awesome fun time. I don't know how to explain it, you get hooked up to the exhaust of a jet ski with a super long tubey thing and the force of the water being expelled from the jet ski makes you fly around in and out of the water. I SO EXCITED. lol I'd rather do that than to skydive, and I think we may only be doing this instead because we've never done it before, he really loves skydiving. I like it fine, it's just also really scary XD
Also, Cocoa is cute.
Plus, super cool view from when we went mini golfing.

The weekend..

Well the weekend has come and gone, and Dahm has returned to his boat so he won't use up any leave time unnecessarily.. We did end up having a good day on Friday though - so let Jack know that even though Dahm was upset and pretty angry at the airlines, he still ended up having a pretty good weekend off.
On Friday we went home and Dahm decided to "report" to some place or whatever so he could tell the Navy what happened with the flight because he didn't want to lie about going when he wasn't able to. I called the flower store in the town his grandma lived in and since it's basically a one horse town I was able to order flowers for the funeral. Totally MY idea lol, Dahm said they liked them. So that was good. Pretty much instantaneously after that I passed out until awhile after Dahm had come home, and then he fell asleep, and then I fell asleep again on the couch hahahah. But after that, we went to Buffalo Wild Wings for dinner and we had a really, really good time. He was even in a good enough mood to go to the movies with me afterwards. They had a cotton candy machine there and it was so cool! And then later we went to Spaghetti factory for lunch and we went mini-golfing!! And Dahm bought himself a laptop for when he goes on deployment, which he promptly infected with a virus yesterday and didn't want to call tech support since it was nighttime. So I got to fix it this morning, with a tiny teeny bit of help from Geek Squad. Took five ish hours but his lappy is now functional. I also convinced him to buy Star Craft for when he gets deployed, which I am POSITIVE he will enjoy.
Dahm really was bummed out that we wouldn't get to see everyone at the funeral and all of you (especially Dad) in Cheyenne.
OH! I almost forgot! While Dahmahnic was underway last week, his dad almost died! He was in the hospital for a week and did not leave Dahm a message when he couldn't get a hold of him so Dahm had no clue when he called him up and said, "Oh just checking you're alive!" OMG talk about irony. lol.... Dahm's father has a faulty pancreas now, cannot drink, eat fat, or a lot of other things. I am not sure how he will not drink alcohol.
That's all the news I have!
Love you all.

Sigh.

So today has been slightly stressful and very annoying.
We get to the airport, running out of the house, worrying about the dogs, and not sure if we have everything we need.
AT THE BAGGAGE CHECK IN (Around 7 ish)-
"Just FYI your flight has been delayed till 3:30 a.m."
Wait, what. We JUST booked this crap. It said 8:20.
:S Sorry. You didn't book THRU United sooo priceline wouldn't say you had a delayyyy... yehhhhh all flights are booked k bye.
Hailey, "Let's go home. This is great. I can sleep in my own bed. Sure, the SEVEN HOUR delay is really crappy, but I'll get some real sleep before the flight - which are nearly impossible to sleep on anyway. Let's call the cab back that just dropped us off."
Dahm, "let's try to get a standby flight. LET'S ADVENTURE TO AS MANY PLACES AS POSSIBLE!!!"
*Walks through security for about 20 minutes and goes to gate 25 (on the opposite side of the airport)* *leaves Hailey for a few minutes* *Returns*
"Let's go find a United dude to try and fly out of Maui to denver."
*Walk around and around till hailey points at a map*
Hailey - "bruh. Only way to talk to them is AT the baggage check in. Where we were 45 minutes ago. They said no flights."
Dahm - "yeah but this delta guy said maybe we can do this flight so let's go talk to them anyway"
*wanders to united eventually*
United - "No flights, all full kbye sorry not gonna check kbye"
Hailey - " can we call a #*&$(#*&$(*)@(* cab now?"
Dahm - "Nah let's go check out the USO and see if it's any good."
*Walks another ten minutes to USO. Takes a look around, sees there are no beds available, Dahm eats half a sandwich*
*Hailey glares at Dahmahnic. It is now 8:45 p.m. Hailey is exhausted on top of everything else. Hailey has hurt feet from badly designed flip flops.*
Dahm - "Ok we'll go home now we just need to figure out how,"
Hailey "........... taxi."
Dahm - "You said you saw a shuttle service earlier, let's go look."
*Sighs*
*no representatives available there. walks outside.*
Hailey - "let's sit and call a cab."
Dahm - let's go walk to the bus stop over there and see if any busses will take us home
Hailey - "#(*$(*&$#($&!!!!! YOU CAN DO THAT ON YOUR PHONE FROM GOOGLE MAPS."
*Walks over to bus stop, no stops by our house*
*Hailey sighs and feels like kicking some flowers*
Dahm - "Look over there is a taxi service"
Hailey - "If they don't already have fares...."
*Walks over to taxi's,Luckily they had no one waiting for specifics.*
*Hailey face palms because they could've gone home two hours earlier.*
It is now 9:30 p.m. We got home around twenty minutes ago. Hailey is tired but less grumpy than she was being stuck at the airport. Hailey could have walked home by now.
At least I get a couple hours to sleep.....

Ze soupy soup

Hailey's bell pepper soup :)

Alrighty, first things first - this was made from stuff in my freezer and fridge LOL. I have been into food preservation lately because I realised that I was wasting a lot of produce. So I've been saving everything - including roasting bell peppers and pickling jalapenos.

(To roast a bell pepper without fire or hassle, just put it in the oven at 400 degrees, turn it in twenty minutes, and when the skin gets a little browned take it out. Then when it cools down, peel the skin off of it (or most of it) and you can plop it in a bag in the freezer for later or use it right away.)

Recipe- (for two to three people)

*3 veggie boullion cubes (or a little more than 1 1/3 cups of veggie stock)
*1-2 Tbsp onion (that I also had diced and frozen)
*Thyme, basil, cayenne pepper, garlic powder (or regular garlic) & salt - to taste
*2 tsp of vinegar (I used apple cider vinegar)
*A little over 1/3 cup soy milk
*1 roasted bell pepper (I used yellow but I think any color would work.)
*A bit of canned corn
*Coconut oil or olive oil (coconut is much better for you to eat and gives it flavor)
*Anything else you want to throw in, celery would be good or potatoes. I put in some canned beans from the fridge; it was good, but next time I'm using a tiny potato. I also used a tiny bit of jalapeno juice to give it a tiny kick.
*~1 tsp rice flour (or cornstarch if you add it to the cold soy milk) to make it less watery

Throw oil into saucepan and cook up the onion a bit. Throw everything else in and cook it till it's thawed out or until it's hot and some of the water has steamed out. The end. Also whisk it to combine. Can be put in baggies and frozen. Delicious. :)

I actually did something else fairly productive today too

I not only stayed up WAY past my bedtime, but I also went to target today. I saw someone on Facebook who made curtains from tablecloths because the pattern was adorable and they were wider, longer, and cheaper than curtains. So I found the pattern I was dreaming of and bought it for less than I'd buy a valence and cafe curtains, and I sewed the valence all quick like and I'm proud :) and when I finish the cafe curtains or whatever they're called, it'll be perfect :)

Crummy photos of the "blood moon" lunar eclipse

The eclipse had 100% visibility here! How cool?! Of course I had to stay up till 2 a.m to see it. I guess you were wrong mom because something good DID happen after 2 a.m., so there I'm the winner.
It was super cool. It was all red except for a bright ring around the edges. Nifty!
