Cocoa playing with her baby :)

She picked it up and brought it over and was playing with it, and I swear I took two more pictures than are here, but they must have evaporated because sometimes my camera doesn't believe in saving them if I click away too fast :-(

Another day, another dollar

(I think I forgot to mention that our three mile walk was three miles each way...)

I feel like sometimes titling my blog posts like the church hymnals do; just the first line of whatever I'm talking about hahah. I wrote an entire blog post in my head last night before I went to sleep, so I'm hoping that most of it will come back to me. Before that though, MORE OTHER STUFF.
Yay we filed our taxes today. MUCH easier doing it without the Mary Kay (Dahm and I talked awhile back and we agreed that even though it was a good thing to do in SC, it just doesn't match our schedule here. We were spending money instead of making it, and that was no bueno at all. So we're waiting for awhile before I start that up again. And since I wasn't active in December, I can't file anyway). Anyways, we will get about double of what we did last year because of Dahm's re-enlistment bonus. Yay for savings! :)
Now for the satirical post I wrote in my head last night titled, "Call me crazy, but..."

Call me crazy, but hiking a nearly vertical mountain for five hours in ninety degree weather just doesn't sound like fun to me. It sounds like the opposite of fun. How about Dahm goes for me and takes pictures while I sit outside and pretend? It's working out with literally nothing else but a great view, which I won't enjoy because I'm too busy panting and wheezing and aching in pain. I'd rather walk three miles to the gym because at least at each end there's some sort of air conditioning paradise. SO I'd rather receive the photographs and just go to the beach. Call me crazy, but if I have to walk three hours to get there and three hours to walk back there BEST be something good at the end of that walk, like the world's best ice cream parlor and a super awesome free activity. Plus shade. I didn't mind walking to Hobby Lobby and that was a mile each way! Oh look, I'll climb this rock for hours, and now it's pretty doesn't sound like much of a reward, especially because there's NO SHADE ANYWHERE. SiGH.

That's part of it at least.

Another issue that came up recently was the fact Dahmahnic is going to be deployed for six months soon. His idea was for me to move back to Cheyenne, put all our stuff into storage, and then make bank on BAH because I'd be living somewhere where I could save the majority of the $3,000/month that we receive for Hawaii housing. Although it was a nice idea, I had to ruin that pipe dream of his with math. CALL ME CRAZY, but I don't think moving 3-4 times would SAVE us money. (He's going somewhere for a temporary duty station for a few months too). Here are the facts:
Six months of  $3,000 is $18,000, which is a good chunk of change.
But it would evaporate quickly because of all the expenses it takes to move.
We're saving money already because we live in reduced rate housing. In six months if our rate remains the same (which it might not) we will save $4200.
So total profit is $18000-$4200 = $13800
Travel for me an both dogs would be around $1500 per way
$13800-$3000=$10800
Minus rent for somewhere for six months that allows dogs (plus utilities) 700-1300/month, depending on if I could find a roommate I could live with and not want to murderify.
$10800-$4200 (MINIMUM) = $6600
Minus pet deposit of around $200
=$6400
Now for furniture expenses (maximum $2000)
=$4400
Temporary vehicle, assuming I buy one that I cannot resell (maximum $2000)
=$2400
Also, we would need to store our two vehicles. With the military program it's $360
=$2040
And we need to store our entire household, which is expensive in Hawaii at $335/5 months + $1 for first month  ($2011)
OUR FINAL TOTAL IS $29. IF I MOVED TO CHEYENNE FOR SIX MONTHS WE'D MAKE A PROFIT OF $29 (not even the minimum, and not the maximum, which would be like $2k at most).
Not to mention, Dahm wants me to try and fly out to some of the places he's going to be. Prices would most likely be WAY more expensive flying from Denver than from Honolulu, because they'd be international flights. And we'd need to find a new house when we returned. Literally ALL of that crap I'd be handling pretty much on my own and he really doesn't understand how hard that is, because he has gypsy blood in him (his crazy mother) and I really don't. YEAH NO I am NOT going to post a CRAIGSLIST ad for roommates because I don't want to DIE (he thought I would want to sort through them to see if there was someone I knew. Uh that sounds next to impossible. No thanks I'd rather ask facebook IF i did that).

So I basically told him, IF I was able to get a part time job working at minimum wage for only $25 hours a week, I'd make more than if I moved overseas AGAIN. If we owned a house in Cheyenne or if we didn't have pets, it would be a different story. I MIGHT be able to couch hop for six months, but that would be so ridiculously awful and stressful that I don't think I'd ever want to do it.

However, if we switched to another housing area, we could make MORE than we are here, AND get a bigger house AND maybe get a big yard. If we HAVE to move at all I'd rather do that and only have to go five minutes away with our own truck.

How about I just use our tax return and get a stock broker because that has a better chance of earning profit and will provide just as much stress. It was a nice idea in theory, but reality is that moving costs a LOT of money.

WHAT?!!! NOOOOOO!

The Long Awaited VACATION PHOTOS!

Unfortunately, a lot of the photo's are on Dahm's phone, and he's underway... :) We had a lot of fun doing stuff, so we really didn't take as many photo's as we probably should have. But STILL! There you go.
